Pictures of the kids

I have a lot of pictures of the kids that I've wanted to post for awhile. The slide show is pictures of the kids at various parades we went to this summer. The first parade we went to was in Boothbay Harbor. It was the windjammer parade. The second parade was for the Fourth of July and that was the city of Turner's parade. The third and last was the moxie parade. The kids love going to parades, but not only for the candy. I love watching the kids get excited, especially the twins. We saw a version of Mickey & Minnie Mouse at the Moxie parade. You should have seen how excited Kelsey and Kaylee got when they saw them! They love watching Mickey Clubhouse. Then the rest of the pictures of from the races that we went to while Sarah and John were here.

Sleepover time at Grammy's again!!

Saturday night is sleepover at Grammy's. I really enjoy it especially now that the twins sllep over. The kids have a blast, too! They came over at supper time, after I had gotten off work. We ate lasagna and they played for a little while after. Then they took showers. I gave Jordan a shower first. It was a really quick one because he hates it when the water gets cold. Then Kelsey, Kaylee, and Latoya all took a shower together. Kelsey and Kaylee played for a few minutes but the water had started to get cold. So I washed Kaylee uo first and washed her hair. I gave her towel and she ran out of the bathroom to go see Grammy. Then I washed Kelsey up and then washed her hair. I gave her towel to her so she could also go see Grammy. Latoya of course finished her shower by herself.

Then they all got dressed in their PJ's and we went to go sleep in our tent that is set up in the woods behind our house. They all read books for about 15 minutes and it was time for bed. Toya's bed was beside mine. Kaylee slept with me on my air mattress bed. Then Kelsey slept with Grammy on her air mattress bed. Then Jordan was beside Grammy. At 2:00 am Toya woke up and said, "Auntie, the air is all out of my bed!" So she came to lay on the bed with me and Kaylee. It was too squishy so Grammy took Kaylee and laid her on the bed with her and Kelsey. From then on everyone slept good and no one woke up before 7:00! It was a lot of fun and the kids really enjoyed "camping out"! Below are some pictures of the kids after they got ready in the morning for church. Enjoy!

Kaylee and Kelsey-- so adorable!!!!

Kaylee and Kelsey again. Kaylee looks mad for some reason! I was probably taking too many pictures. :-)

My new job & Cubbies

Hey everyone! It's been awhile since I posted anything. Mainly because I was busy and there wasn't too much going on. Well, I finally got a job. I was really excited because not only was I bored but I really needed to start making some money if I wanted to go back to college. I work for Mountain Hallow Farms in Leeds. I pack eggs. It's not as easy as you probably think. When I first started I thought it would be easy but it's a lot of work!!! We also "candle" which is beeping out the cracked and rotten eggs so they don't get sold. I like it though because the time goes by pretty fast when you're working. It's kind a cool to see the machines and all the work they do just to put eggs in the carton!

I've been teaching the Sunday School hour for cubbies at my church. Cubbies is for two and three year olds. When I first got asked to do it, I wasn't all that excited. I enjoy teaching older kids. But it's been interesting and a lot of fun. Plus my twin nieces are in cubbies so that makes it even better!!! Here's some pictures I've taken of cubbies kids this summer. Hope you enjoy them! The kids are adorable and I love teaching them!

Crescent Beach...sleep over at Grammy's

Ok, I know my sister already put a post on her page about Crescent beach, but I also wanted to. This was the first time I had been to the ocean with Kelsey and Kaylee. I stayed at college last summer so that's most likely the reason why. Anyways we got there around 3:00 I believe. Immediately Latoya ran into the water and started jumping the waves. I used to do that with my sisters when we went to the ocean. But seeing how I'm a little bit older now, okay maybe a lot older, it takes me more time to get used to the water. Especially the ocean, it's FREEZING!!!!! Once I did get used to the water, I went out there and jumped a few waves with Toya. It wasn't as much fun as I remembered. There was too many rocks on the bottom of the ocean and that kinda hurt. Then Kelsey wanted me to hold her and bring her out there. So I took her out there and jumped a few waves with her. When I brought her back, Kaylee wanted me to bring her out there so I did. It was a lot of fun with the twins because they loved it and laughed while we were jumping the waves. Here's some pictures of the kids and some of the ocean also.

Then after we came back to my parents house and all the kids slept over, which was also a lot of fun. Latoya and Jordan slept on the couch bed in the livingroom. Kelsey slept with me on my bed. Kaylee slept on the cot in my room. Kaylee went to bed pretty fast, but not Kelsey. After laying down for maybe five minutes she sat up and said, " I all done sleeping." I tried not to laugh and told her to lay back down. A few minutes later she sat up and said, " I stinky." I checked her and of course she wasn't stinky. She just didn't want to go to bed yet!!

The Starfish Story...

by Loren Eiseley (1907 - 1977)

Once upon a time, there was a wise man who used to go to the ocean to do his writing. He had a habit of walking on the beach before he began his work. One day, as he was walking along the shore, he looked down the beach and saw a human figure moving like a dancer. He smiled to himself at the thought of someone who would dance to the day, and so, he walked faster to catch up. As he got closer, he noticed that the figure was that of a little boy, and that what he was doing was not dancing at all. The young man was reaching down to the shore, picking up small objects, and throwing them into the ocean.

He came closer still and called out "Good morning! May I ask what it is that you are doing?" The little boy paused, looked up, and replied "Throwing starfish into the ocean." "I must ask, then, why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?" asked the somewhat startled wise man. To this, the little boy replied, "The sun is up and the tide is going out. If I don't throw them in, they'll die." Upon hearing this, the wise man commented, "But, young man, do you not realize that there are miles and miles of beach and there are starfish all along every mile? You can't possibly make a difference!"

Discouraged he began to walk away. Suddenly the little boy bent down, picked up yet another starfish, and threw it into the ocean. As it met the water, he said, "It made a difference for that one." The man looked at the little boy inquisitively and thought about what he had said and had done. Inspired, he joined the little boy in throwing the starfish back into the ocean.

I love this story. It shows how you can truly save a life one at a time if you are willing and daring enough to just try. I worked on a bus route while I was in college. We take little boys and girls, teens, and adults from Chicago to church every Sunday. I loved working on my bus route and miss the kids tremendously! At times I would get discouraged when it seems no matter what I tried to do I wasn't making a big enough impact on my kids life. Then I thought of this story and I realized I was making a difference to one kid at a time. So, never give up on someone. They may just be waiting for you to save them. If we are worth saving, isn't everyone else too?

Toddler's Creed

If I want it, it's mine. If I give it to you, and change my mind later, it's mine. If I take it away from you, it's mine. If I had it a little while ago, it's mine. If it's mine, it will never belong to anyone else, no matter what. If we are building something together, all the pieces are mine. If it looks just like mine, it is mine.
~Author Unknown

This reminds me of my twin nieces, Kelsey and Kaylee, who are toddlers. When I read it I immediately thought of them! Of Course it really fits any toddler but it's more evident in the twins to me.

A Child's Wisdom...

** Don't sneeze when you're getting a haircut.

** Don't wear polka-dot underwear under white shorts.

** If your sister hits you, don't hit her back... They always catch the second person.

** Most school lunches stick to the wall.

** Never ask your 3-year old brother to hold a tomato.

** Never hold a dustbuster and a kitty at the same time.

** No matter how hard you try, you can NOT baptize cats.

** Puppies always have bad breath, even after eating a tic tac.

** Reading what people write on desks can teach you a lot.

** The best place to be when you are sad is in Grandma's lap.

** When your mom is mad at your dad, don't let her brush your hair.

** You can't hide a piece of broccoli in a glass of milk very long.

** You just can't trust dogs to watch your food.

My attempt at having my own blog! :)

Well everyone else in my family has a blog so I thought why not me, too. So I am going to attempt to start one and hopefully keep it going. We'll see how long that lasts!!!
